Real Stories. Real Change.

One Small Step Changed Everything

"When I first started working with Chad, I was skeptical. I wasn't sure Health & Wellness Coaching was really for me, and honestly, I started blowing it off.

I still remember my very first action step. It was simply, "Go to the fridge and get a beer." That might sound strange, but that's where I was in life. From there, I started walking up and down the stairs a few times each day. It didn't seem like much at the time, but it became the first step toward changing the direction of my life.

The changes didn't happen overnight. One small step led to another. Eventually, I enrolled in trade school, completed the program, was offered a position as an instructor, and later started my own trade business.

Looking back, it's incredible to think that everything started with one simple action step: "Go to the fridge and get a beer." That moment taught me that lasting change doesn't happen all at once—it happens one small step at a time.

Working with Chad wasn't about someone telling me what to do. It was about having someone who listened, encouraged me, and helped me keep moving forward, even when the steps seemed small. Looking back, I'm grateful I took that first step because it completely changed the direction of my life."

Changing the Way I Saw the World

"When I started working with Chad, I realized I had developed a habit of expecting the worst. My mind constantly jumped to everything that could go wrong. I worried about getting into a car accident, someone breaking into my home, something happening to my children, or any number of worst-case scenarios. It was exhausting, and I wanted to know if it was even possible to change the way I thought.

During one of our coaching conversations, we brainstormed a few different ideas. I decided to try one of them, even though I wasn't sure it would make much of a difference.

To my surprise, it worked.

As I practiced it each day, I noticed my thinking beginning to shift. Instead of automatically expecting the worst, I started noticing the good that was already happening around me. My perspective became more balanced, and I found myself feeling calmer, more hopeful, and more present.

The change was so meaningful that I started doing the same activity with my children. It became something we shared together, helping all of us focus more on the positive than the negative.

Looking back, I didn't just change my mindset—I changed the atmosphere in my home. I'm grateful I took that first step because the impact reached far beyond me. It influenced my family in ways I never expected."

The Missing Piece of My Healthcare Team

"When I started working with Chad, I was living with chronic back pain. I was drinking hard liquor every day, eating out all the time, and my biggest weakness was peanut M&Ms. My goal wasn't anything huge—I simply wanted to be able to play nine holes of golf without being in pain.

I was already working with my doctor, pharmacist, and physical therapist when I came across Chad. Looking back, Health & Wellness Coaching became the missing piece of my healthcare team. Chad didn’t replace any of my providers—he helped me put everything I was learning into practice.

As I began making small, consistent changes, things slowly started to improve. I started eating healthier, stopped drinking alcohol completely, and even gave up my peanut M&Ms. None of that was easy, but I realized I had reached a point where I had to make a conscious decision to change because I didn't like the direction my health was headed.

Each healthy choice made the next one a little easier. Over time, those small decisions transformed the way I felt, the way I moved, and the way I approached my health.

Then one day it happened—I played nine holes of golf without any pain.

For me, that wasn't just a round of golf. It was proof that all of those small decisions had added up to something much bigger. Working with Chad gave me the support, accountability, and encouragement I needed to stay focused, but I learned that lasting change happens one decision at a time.

Today, my health has improved, my quality of life is better, and I'm doing things I once thought I'd never do again. I'm incredibly grateful that I took that first step."

— Terri J. ~ Golfer Living with Chronic Back Pain

Learning to Give Myself Grace

"I started working with Chad while I was pregnant, although that wasn't the reason I originally signed up for Health & Wellness Coaching. As my pregnancy progressed, it naturally became the focus of our coaching conversations.

I wanted everything to be planned out. My goal was to have a schedule in place before the baby arrived. Then reality hit—I quickly learned that babies don't work on my schedule.

At first, I felt like I was failing because nothing was going according to plan. Through coaching, I began to see things differently. I learned to give myself grace, be more flexible, and focus on what I could control instead of chasing perfection.

That shift in perspective changed everything. Instead of constantly feeling frustrated, I became more confident in my ability to adapt and trust myself through each new challenge.

Looking back, those conversations gave me the confidence and resilience I needed to navigate one of the biggest transitions of my life. I didn't need a perfect plan—I needed the confidence to handle whatever came next.

I'm grateful I chose to work with Chad during that season of my life. Sometimes the greatest growth comes from learning that it's okay to let go of perfection and simply do your best."

Getting Back to What I Love

"One of the things I missed most because of my chronic pain was going to church. I loved being around everyone, especially the kids. Making them laugh always brought me so much joy.

As my pain became worse, I gradually stopped going. I never realized how much I would miss being there until it became part of my life that I had lost.

Health & Wellness Coaching wasn't about making one big change. Instead, I focused on small, manageable steps—moving a little more, paying closer attention to what I was eating, and getting on a more consistent sleep schedule. I had my share of setbacks, but I learned that setbacks didn't mean failure. They were simply part of the journey.

As those small changes became part of my routine, my quality of life slowly began to improve. I started feeling more confident in what I could do instead of focusing on what I couldn't.

Today, I'm back at church, surrounded by people I care about, and once again spending time with the kids and making them laugh.

For me, that's been one of life's greatest blessings. I'm grateful I took that first step and had Chad alongside me to encourage me along the way. Getting back to church wasn't just about returning to a building—it was about getting back to a part of myself that I thought I'd lost."

— Jackson J. ~ Church Volunteer

A Different Kind of Support

“I will say that meeting with you versus my mental health counselor is much lighter. It’s not tense, and I don’t leave with headaches. You’re focusing more on my lifestyle changes, where she’s focusing more on processing feelings and stuff from the past.”

— Teresa R. ~ Stay at Home Mom

Rediscovering What Matters Most

I work in the fire department, and when I first started working with Chad, I spent a lot of time focused on my job. Through our coaching conversations, he helped me step back and look at my life from a different perspective.

I realized that the most important thing in my life wasn’t my career—it was my family.

That realization changed the way I approached my relationships. It didn’t happen overnight, but over time I was able to strengthen and repair relationships that had become strained. Those conversations, along with the action steps Chad encouraged me to take, helped me become more intentional about being present with the people I love.

Today, my relationships are stronger than they’ve been in years, and I’m in a much better place because of it.

I’m grateful I made the decision to work with Chad. Sometimes the greatest changes in your life don’t happen at work—they happen at home.

— James S. ~ Firefighter

One Question Changed My Life

When I started working with Chad, I was working from home in my basement, crunching numbers all day for an accounting firm. Life had become a routine, and I was just going through the motions.

One day Chad asked me a simple question: “What’s your mission in life?”

That question hit me like a brick wall. I didn’t have an answer, and honestly, it bothered me more than I expected.

As we continued meeting every couple of weeks, I kept working on my action steps, but I couldn’t stop thinking about that question. Little by little, the answer became clear.

My mission is to be present and help others.

Once I realized that, I knew I needed to make some changes. I retired earlier than I had planned, got out of the basement, and told my family I wanted to work with the civil service and travel to other countries to serve people in need.

Today, I’m living my mission. I wake up with a sense of purpose, joy, and fulfillment that I never had before.

Looking back, none of this would have happened if Chad hadn’t asked me one simple question and given me the time and space to really think about it. Sometimes one question is all it takes to change the direction of your life.

From Living with Pain to Living with Purpose

When he first began coaching, chronic lower back pain had become a part of everyday life.

His pain hovered between a 3 and 4 out of 10 on most days. He had lived with it for so long that he questioned whether things could ever truly improve. Like many people, he had accepted pain as his new normal.

As part of his overall care, he was also working with a physical therapist and physician. My role was different. Rather than focusing on treating pain, we focused on something even more powerful—helping him build a healthier lifestyle that supported the life he wanted to live.

From our very first coaching session, I didn’t hand him a list of rules or tell him what he had to do. Instead, I listened.

Together, we identified the goals that mattered most to him: walking more, reducing alcohol consumption, eating fewer fried foods, and improving his overall health. Those goals became the foundation for a personalized plan that fit his life, his priorities, and his readiness for change.

Week after week, he showed up.

He made one decision at a time. One meal at a time. One healthier habit at a time.

The changes weren’t dramatic overnight—but they were consistent.

He gradually reduced his alcohol intake to the point where he no longer considered himself a drinker. Fried foods became an occasional choice rather than a regular habit. He shifted toward foods that helped reduce inflammation instead of increasing it. Even giving up his beloved peanut M&M’s—something he joked was one of the hardest changes—became part of his commitment to a healthier future.

Then something remarkable happened.

The scale kept moving.

His body became stronger.

His flexibility improved.

His confidence grew.

By the end of his coaching journey, he had lost 50 pounds.

Even more meaningful than the number on the scale was how he felt.

His daily pain dropped from 3–4 out of 10 to just 0.5–1 out of 10. The improvement was so significant that he chose to cancel a planned pain procedure because he no longer believed he needed it.

The greatest success wasn’t simply the weight loss or the reduction in pain.

It was that he had learned how to care for himself in a way that was realistic, sustainable, and lasting.

One sentence from his letter has stayed with me:

“Chad let me lead, and we worked on a plan together that we thought would be the most beneficial to get where I wanted to get to.”

That captures my coaching philosophy perfectly.

I believe people are far more likely to create lasting change when they are empowered—not directed. My role isn’t to tell you how to live your life. It’s to walk alongside you, ask meaningful questions, help you discover what matters most, and support you as you build habits that fit your life.

Because lasting transformation doesn’t happen through willpower alone.

It happens one conversation, one choice, and one step at a time.
