Frequently Asked Questions

Please feel free to contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A Health & Wellness Coach is a trained professional who partners with you to help you improve your health in ways that are meaningful, realistic, and sustainable for your life.

Rather than telling you what to do or handing you a one-size-fits-all plan, a coach helps you clarify what’s most important to you, identify what’s getting in the way, and discover approaches that work with your daily routine.

As your coach, my role is to:

  • Listen without judgment
  • Ask thoughtful questions that encourage insight and self-discovery
  • Help you recognize your strengths and build confidence
  • Support you as you navigate challenges and setbacks
  • Provide encouragement, accountability, and perspective
  • Help you create a personalized path toward better health and well-being

Your role is just as important. You bring your experiences, values, goals, and willingness to make positive changes. Together, we work as partners to create a plan that feels achievable, flexible, and meaningful to you.

Health & Wellness Coaching isn’t about perfection. It’s about making steady progress, learning what works for you, and building confidence one step at a time.

Health & Wellness Coaching may be a great fit if you’re ready to make positive changes but aren’t sure where to start—or you’ve tried before and found it difficult to maintain those changes on your own.

You don’t need to have a specific diagnosis or be in perfect health to benefit from coaching. Many clients simply want more energy, less stress, healthier habits, or greater confidence in managing their well-being.

Health & Wellness Coaching may be right for you if you:

  • Want to improve your overall health and well-being
  • Feel stuck or tired of starting over
  • Want healthier habits that actually last
  • Are looking to improve your sleep or manage stress
  • Want to lose weight or increase your physical activity
  • Are living with chronic pain or another long-term health condition
  • Want support, accountability, and encouragement along the way
  • Are ready to make yourself a priority

Health & Wellness Coaching is a collaborative partnership. You set the goals, and together we’ll develop practical strategies that fit your lifestyle, values, and priorities.

If you’re unsure whether coaching is the right fit, that’s exactly what the free, no-obligation consultation is for. We’ll talk about your goals, answer your questions, and determine whether Health & Wellness Coaching is the right next step for you. If it isn’t, there’s absolutely no pressure to continue.

Most people already know many of the healthy choices they want to make. The challenge isn’t knowing what to do—it’s finding a realistic way to make those changes part of everyday life.

Choosing a Health & Wellness Coach is personal. You deserve someone who listens without judgment, meets you where you are, and helps you create lasting change—not temporary fixes.

As a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach with a master’s degree in education, I combine evidence-based coaching with practical strategies that fit your real life. My role isn’t to tell you what to do—it’s to partner with you as you discover what works best for you.

Whether you’re working to improve your sleep, reduce stress, manage chronic pain, increase energy, lose weight, or simply live a healthier life, we’ll move at a pace that feels achievable and sustainable.

My goal isn’t simply to help you reach a goal—it’s to help you build the confidence and skills to continue making healthy choices long after our coaching relationship ends.

Since becoming a Health & Wellness Coach in 2020, I’ve partnered with hundreds of individuals through both my work with the Department of Veterans Affairs and my private coaching practice.

I’ve worked with individuals of different ages, backgrounds, and life experiences, including people looking to improve their overall health, manage chronic pain, reduce stress, sleep better, increase physical activity, lose weight, build healthier habits, and navigate major life transitions.

No two people are exactly alike, which is why every coaching relationship is personalized. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I take the time to understand your unique goals, values, strengths, and challenges so we can create a plan that works for you.

Whether you’re just beginning your wellness journey or have been working toward better health for years, my goal is to provide a supportive, evidence-based coaching experience that helps you create meaningful, lasting change.

If you’ve tried countless diets, exercise programs, apps, or wellness plans and still feel like you’re starting over, you’re not alone. Many of my clients come to coaching feeling discouraged, frustrated, or wondering why nothing seems to stick.

The good news is that Health & Wellness Coaching isn’t about finding the “perfect” diet or expecting you to rely on willpower alone.

Instead, we focus on understanding you—your goals, your values, your daily routines, your challenges, and what has or hasn’t worked in the past. Together, we’ll identify practical strategies that fit your life and build habits that are realistic, sustainable, and meaningful to you.

Progress isn’t measured by perfection. Setbacks are a normal part of making lasting change, and they don’t mean you’ve failed. Each challenge is an opportunity to learn, adjust, and keep moving forward.

You don’t have to do it alone this time. With personalized support, encouragement, and accountability, you’ll have a partner who helps you stay focused on the small, consistent steps that lead to meaningful, lasting change.

Not at all.

Health & Wellness Coaching is designed to meet you where you are—not where you think you should be.

You don’t need to be in great shape, have perfect eating habits, or already know what to do.

Whether you’re just beginning your wellness journey, managing a chronic health condition, or simply looking to make healthier lifestyle changes, coaching can provide the support and guidance to help you move forward.

Our work begins with your goals, your strengths, and your priorities. Together, we’ll identify realistic, achievable steps that fit your life and build on your progress over time.

There are no perfect clients, and there are no perfect journeys. Lasting change happens one small step at a time.

If you’re willing to explore what’s possible and make gradual, meaningful changes, you’re ready to begin.

That’s completely okay. In fact, many people begin coaching without having a clear goal in mind.

You may simply know that you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, stressed, tired, or ready for something to change. That’s more than enough to get started.

One of the first things we’ll do is explore what’s most important to you—your values, priorities, daily life, and the areas where you’d like to feel healthier or more fulfilled. Through thoughtful conversation, we’ll work together to identify goals that are meaningful, realistic, and personally motivating.

Your goals don’t have to be perfect, and they don’t have to stay the same. As you learn more about yourself and experience progress, your goals may evolve—and that’s a natural part of the coaching process.

You don’t need to have all the answers before you begin. Sometimes the first step is simply being willing to explore what’s possible.

Yes—Health & Wellness Coaching can help you improve your sleep by focusing on the habits and behaviors that support healthy, restorative rest. While coaching does not diagnose or treat sleep disorders or prescribe treatments, it can help you make meaningful lifestyle changes that promote better sleep.

Together, we’ll explore factors that may be affecting your sleep and develop practical strategies that fit your lifestyle. Coaching may help you:

  • Establish a consistent sleep routine
  • Create healthy bedtime habits
  • Manage stress that may be interfering with sleep
  • Improve daily habits that support better rest
  • Identify barriers to quality sleep and develop realistic solutions
  • Build sustainable behaviors that promote long-term sleep health

Small, consistent changes often lead to meaningful improvements over time. Through encouragement, accountability, and personalized support, coaching can help you create routines that not only improve your sleep but also enhance your overall health and well-being.

If you have a diagnosed sleep disorder or symptoms that require medical evaluation, Health & Wellness Coaching is designed to complement—not replace—the care provided by your healthcare team.

Yes—many people seek Health & Wellness Coaching because they want to lose weight. However, coaching isn’t about quick fixes, restrictive diets, or chasing a number on the scale.

Instead, we focus on building sustainable habits that often support healthy weight management over time.

Together, we’ll identify practical changes that fit your lifestyle, such as improving nutrition, increasing physical activity, managing stress, getting better sleep, planning meals, and overcoming barriers that have made it difficult to maintain healthy habits in the past.

Rather than relying on willpower alone, we’ll work to create routines that are realistic, enjoyable, and sustainable. These lasting lifestyle changes not only support healthy weight management but can also improve energy, confidence, overall health, and quality of life.

If weight loss is one of your goals, we’ll keep it in perspective—focusing on the daily habits that lead to long-term success rather than short-term results.

Yes—Health & Wellness Coaching can be a valuable part of living well with chronic pain. While coaching does not diagnose, treat, or cure pain, it can help you develop practical strategies to improve your overall health and quality of life.

Living with chronic pain often affects much more than the body. It can impact sleep, stress, mood, energy, physical activity, relationships, and daily routines. Together, we’ll focus on areas that are within your control and identify small, meaningful changes that support your well-being.

Coaching may help you:

  • Build sustainable, healthy habits that fit your lifestyle
  • Develop strategies to better manage stress
  • Improve sleep quality and establish healthy sleep routines
  • Increase movement at a pace that’s right for you.
  • Learn pacing techniques to balance activity and rest
  • Improve confidence in managing day-to-day challenges
  • Enhance your overall quality of life despite ongoing pain

Rather than focusing solely on reducing pain, Health & Wellness Coaching emphasizes helping you live a fuller, more meaningful life by strengthening the habits and skills that support your physical and emotional well-being.

If you’re living with chronic pain and wondering whether coaching is right for you, the free, no-obligation consultation is a great opportunity to discuss your goals and explore how coaching may complement the care you’re already receiving.

Your free consultation is simply a conversation—there’s no pressure, no obligation, and no commitment required.

During our session, we’ll:

  • Get to know each other
  • Talk about your health, wellness, and lifestyle goals
  • Discuss the challenges you’re currently facing
  • Explore what matters most to you and what you’d like to accomplish
  • Answer any questions you have about Health & Wellness Coaching
  • Determine whether coaching is the right fit for your needs

This is also an opportunity for you to decide whether I’m the right coach for you. A strong coaching relationship is built on trust, comfort, and open communication, so it’s important that you feel confident moving forward.

If we both feel coaching is a good fit, we’ll discuss the next steps and choose a coaching plan that best supports your goals. If not, that’s perfectly okay—there’s no pressure to continue, and you’ll leave with a better understanding of your options.

The consultation is completely free, and there’s never any obligation to purchase coaching services. My goal is simply to help you determine the best path forward for your health and well-being.

Every coaching session is centered around you—your goals, your experiences, and what matters most in your life.

We’ll begin by talking about what’s been going well, any challenges you’ve encountered, and any changes since our last conversation. Together, we’ll explore options that fit your goals, your schedule, and your current season of life.

You can expect thoughtful conversation, reflection, and practical problem-solving. Depending on your needs, we may discuss topics such as stress, sleep, physical activity, nutrition, chronic pain, motivation, or finding a better balance in daily life.

There is no judgment and no pressure to be perfect. Coaching is a collaborative process where we celebrate successes, learn from setbacks, and continue moving forward one step at a time.

Each session ends with a few simple action steps that you feel confident about before we meet again.

It’s completely normal to have questions before choosing a Health & Wellness Coach. Here are some of the questions people are often hesitant to ask—but are glad they did.

Will you judge me?

Absolutely not. Health & Wellness Coaching is a judgment-free partnership. My role is to listen, understand your situation, and help you build on your strengths—not criticize your choices or tell you what you “should” have done.

What if I don’t follow through between sessions?

That’s part of the coaching process. We’ll explore what got in the way, learn from it, and adjust your plan. Coaching isn’t about perfection—it’s about learning and making progress over time.

What if I’m embarrassed to talk about my health?

You can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. Coaching provides a safe, confidential space where you’re treated with respect and compassion.

Will you tell me what I should eat?

If you’re looking for a personalized medical nutrition plan, a registered dietitian may be the right professional. As a Health & Wellness Coach, I help you build healthier eating habits that fit your lifestyle and goals, and I can work alongside your healthcare team when appropriate.

Will you work with my doctor or healthcare team?

Absolutely. Health & Wellness Coaching complements—not replaces—medical care. I encourage clients to continue working with their healthcare providers, and coaching can support the treatment plans they’ve developed.

Is everything we discuss confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is important. What you share during coaching sessions is kept confidential except where disclosure is required by law or with your permission.

How long does it take to see results?

Everyone’s journey is different, so there’s no single timeline that fits everyone.

Some clients notice positive changes after just a few sessions, such as feeling more motivated, sleeping better, managing stress more effectively, or gaining greater confidence in their ability to make healthy choices. Other goals naturally take more time, especially when you’re changing long-standing habits or managing chronic health conditions.

The focus isn’t on making dramatic changes overnight. It’s on making meaningful progress that builds over time. Small, consistent steps often lead to the greatest improvements because they’re more likely to become part of your everyday life.

Most clients meet every two weeks, which provides enough time to practice new habits, overcome challenges, and build momentum between sessions while still receiving regular support and accountability.

Depending on your goals and coaching package, we can also meet weekly or monthly if that better fits your needs and schedule.

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we’ll determine a meeting schedule that supports your goals, fits your lifestyle, and gives you the best opportunity for lasting success.

As your confidence and progress grow, we can adjust the frequency of sessions to match your evolving needs. The goal is to provide the right amount of support while helping you build the skills and confidence to maintain your progress independently.

Yes!

All coaching sessions are conducted virtually, allowing you to receive personalized, one-on-one Health & Wellness Coaching from the comfort of your home, office, or wherever is most convenient for you.

Virtual coaching offers the same supportive, collaborative experience as meeting in person while providing greater flexibility and convenience. All you need is a reliable internet connection and a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphone.

Because sessions are virtual, I’m able to work with clients throughout the United States.

Many clients find virtual coaching makes it easier to stay consistent with their appointments and focus on their health without the time and expense of traveling.

Absolutely.

There are no long-term contracts or obligations. While lasting change takes time and consistency, I understand that life circumstances, priorities, and goals can change.

If you decide coaching is no longer the right fit, you can stop at any time. My goal is to provide a positive, supportive experience that empowers you to move forward with confidence—whether we’re working together for a few sessions or much longer.

If you’re considering ending coaching, we’ll take time to review your progress, celebrate your accomplishments, and discuss strategies to help you continue your wellness journey independently.

Setbacks are a normal part of making any change. They don’t mean you’ve failed—they’re simply opportunities to learn and adjust.

During coaching, we’ll talk about what happened, identify any obstacles, and explore ways to move forward. There’s no guilt, criticism, or judgment. Instead, we’ll help you regain your momentum with confidence and continue working toward your goals.

Progress is rarely a straight line. What matters most is continuing to move forward, even if it’s one small step at a time.

Not at all.

Many of my clients simply want to feel healthier, have more energy, improve their sleep, reduce stress, lose weight, or establish healthier routines before serious health problems develop.

Others are managing chronic conditions such as chronic pain, diabetes, high blood pressure, or other long-term health concerns and want additional support as they work toward their goals.

Health & Wellness Coaching is for anyone who wants to improve their overall well-being, make healthier choices, and create positive changes that enhance their quality of life—regardless of where they’re starting.

Absolutely.

Feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or burned out can make even simple health habits feel difficult. Coaching provides a supportive space to slow down, clarify what’s most important, and focus on changes that feel manageable rather than overwhelming.

Together, we’ll identify what’s contributing to your stress, explore healthy ways to respond, and build routines that fit your current circumstances. The goal isn’t to add more to your already full schedule—it’s to help you find a healthier, more balanced way forward.

Each profession plays an important role, but they have different areas of expertise.

Health & Wellness Coaching focuses on helping you create lasting behavior change. Together, we’ll identify meaningful goals, overcome obstacles, and build sustainable habits that fit your life.

Therapists help people address mental health concerns, emotional challenges, trauma, and psychological well-being.

Personal trainers develop exercise programs and provide instruction to improve fitness, strength, and physical performance.

Registered dietitians provide medical nutrition therapy and personalized nutrition recommendations for specific health conditions.

Health & Wellness Coaching often complements these services. If you’re already working with healthcare professionals, coaching can help you put their recommendations into practice by building the habits, confidence, and accountability needed to support long-term success.

“You’re focusing more on my lifestyle changes, where she’s focusing more on processing feelings and stuff from the past.”

— Teresa R.
